FAQ's
Finding your dream wedding dress is very exciting but as with any new experience it can also be a bit confusing!
Below you'll find our most frequently asked questions.
Do I need to book an appointment to try on wedding dresses?
Yes, it is always advisable to book an appointment to view and try on our wedding gowns.
We sometimes need to close the shop for another brides fitting so if you have not booked an appointment in advance we may not be able to see you.
How long does a wedding dress appointment usually last?
We normally allow about an hour for trying on wedding dresses.
If you think that you will require a longer appointment we can certainly arrange this on a weekday. As Saturdays and Sundays are very popular a longer appointment is unlikely to be possible on weekends.
How many guests should I bring with me?
Most brides find that it is quite helpful to bring a friend or family member to their viewing and we are happy to accommodate up to 3 guests.
We understand that some brides would like to bring more guests and we can make arrangements for this on a weekday. As Saturdays and Sundays are quite busy we cannot accommodate for more than 3 guests on a weekend.
Can I bring children to my appointment?
We would discourage bringing children to your appointment as they must be supervised at all times and can be a distraction when trying on dresses.
However we understand that it is sometimes necessary, if this is the case we would ask you to book an appointment on a weekday when the shop is quieter.
We cannot allow pushchairs at any time in our London shop. In our York and Harrogate shops pushchairs can be left in the front of the shop.
Do I need to bring anything with me to my appointment?
Comfortable, flesh coloured or pale underwear is advisable and a strapless bra is always good but not essential. You are welcome to bring your own shoes and accessories but we also have lots of styles available to try in store.
The main thing we do ask is that you wear a minimal amount of make-up to protect the dresses.
What is your price range?
We try to accommodate for all budgets and have dresses that range from under £1000 to over £4000.
The style of dress that you are looking for can influence what is available in your price range. It's a really good idea to have a budget in mind before you start shopping and to let us know when booking your appointment so that we can help you find the perfect dress.
If you fall in love with a style that is slightly over budget let us know as there is sometimes the option to buy a dress off the peg or find a similar alternative.
What size dresses do you stock?
The majority of our dresses in stock range from UK size 8-16, but we can order dresses in all sizes and are happy to advise plus size brides.
Do I need an appointment to view accessories?
Yes, it is always advisable to book an appointment to view our accessories.
We sometimes need to close the shop for another brides fitting so if you have not booked an appointment in advance we may not be able to see you.
Is everything on the website available in store?
Everything on the website is not always available in each of our shops.
If there is a particular item that you are interested in viewing please contact us before coming to see it in store. We only have limited stock and can't guarantee that an item will be available to view unless an appointment has been arranged specifically to see it.
How far in advance should I order my wedding dress?
Most wedding dresses take approximately 6-9 months to order and fit. We would recommend to start looking a few months before this as shopping for your dress early means that there is plenty of time for fittings.
If you're working towards a date which is much closer than this don't panic as some dresses can be ordered on a rush delivery and we also sell a range of wedding gowns off the peg.
Do you offer an alteration service?
Yes, if you have ordered your wedding gown from one of our boutiques our in house designer or alterationists will be happy to do all of your fittings in store.
Alternatively we can also recommend an independent seamstress that you can visit at your convenience.
Are alterations included in the price of the dress?
With our made to measure wedding gowns by Catriona Dowse all alterations are included in the price.
With our other designers the wedding gown is ordered in a standard size closest to your measurements and then any alterations that are needed are charged as extra at your first fitting. The cost varies depending upon the extent and nature of the alterations required.
Where can I store my wedding dress?
Once ordered we are happy to look after our bride's wedding dress right up to their wedding day. It will be packed up into a dress bag or travel box for you to collect whenever is most convenient.
We also offer a range of storage boxes for after the big day.
Do you offer a dry cleaning service?
Yes, if you have bought your dress from Bridal Rogue Gallery we can offer a dry cleaning service for your wedding gown.
We can not dry clean dresses which have been bought from other bridal shops.
